Counselling style
My talking therapy practice is based in rural Somerset. This peaceful countryside setting provides a calm and quiet atmosphere for visiting clients and reflects how I am with people, i.e. natural and genuine.
I am an Integrative Counsellor, which means that my work is grounded on a range of psychological theories. This includes an understanding of how your early life and experiences may still affect you (Psychodynamic Theory). How your beliefs about events influence your emotions and how to break the habitual cycle (CBT). Plus, examining the issues that are happening right now (Person-Centred Therapy).
Through talking and understanding, Integrative Counselling not only uses a blend of theories it also aims to unify different parts of your conscious and sub-conscious thought processes into a more cohesive whole. I believe this integration enables increased self-acceptance and the desire to develop authenticity.
I have a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and have worked for various commercial organisations as well as the NHS. I am mother to three grown-up children and live in the countryside where I regularly walk and cycle!
I enjoy participating in Writing for Wellbeing, Poetry Therapy and Creative Arts Therapy, all of which add breadth to my counselling practice.
